Artphilein Library presents Blind Date, Blind Fate: Collage as an Event, an exhibition and editorial project dedicated to the contemporary language of photo-collage, born from a creative dialogue with artist Daniele Villa Zorn.
The exhibition explores the evolution of photographic collage, from its origins as a tool for political and social critique to its current use as a means of investigating the very nature of the photographic image. In an era dominated by “cut-and-paste” culture, Blind Date, Blind Fate reflects on how contemporary artists rework pre-existing visual materials, transforming them into new narratives.
The project brings together a selection of photo books featuring collage, drawn from the Artphilein Library collection and Daniele Villa Zorn’s personal archive. The artist also contributes a series of original works: minimal compositions, akin to visual haikus, created using fragments of 1950s travel guides that give rise to poetic and disorienting landscapes.
Enriching the project is a conversation between Daniele Villa Zorn and Yuval Etgar, curator and scholar of collage, offering a thoughtful reflection on visual culture, photography, and the reuse of imagery.
