LAPILLI: Sara Munari Explores the Volcano Between Myth, Science, and Art

Focus Artphilein presents, starting Wednesday, May 8, the new exhibition by Sara Munari, co-curated by Simone Azzoni. Volcanoes have always fascinated and frightened humanity. Symbols of destruction and rebirth, of primordial force and mystery, they have inspired myths, legends, and artistic representations throughout the centuries. From ancient legends to depictions by Pliny the Younger, Hokusai, Turner, and Dalí, and into the present day, the volcano's imagery continues to evolve, influenced by cinematic visions and artistic interpretations. Munari’s project weaves together vision and reality in an immersive journey, where images, sounds, and narratives merge, exploring the volcano both as a natural phenomenon and a profound metaphor.
