Finestre by Cosimo Filippini

A series of photographs of Lugano Lake, taken over a decade, take on new meanings when presented in frames that evoke the shape of windows: thresholds through which the gaze is invited to contemplate a landscape that is both real and imaginary. In these works, the artist's autobiographical dimension is intertwined with a thought on photography, used as a tool for dialogue with other visual arts disciplines, such as painting and sculpture.

Through the device of the window, Filippini investigates how the relationship with space is constantly influenced, filtered, and transformed by the gaze and the work itself. The images thus activate a tension between real space and figurative space, generating a suspended visual territory that brings into play the relationship between observer, place, and representation.
The exhibition is accompanied by the usual Cahier, published by Artphilein Editions, which collects photographs of the works on display and features a text by critic and curator Rossella Farinotti.

Cosimo Filippini was born in Lugano and completed his studies in Milan, graduating in Economics for Art, Culture, and Communication from Bocconi University and obtaining a diploma in piano from the G.
